Community Involvement

Nature Coast EMS Citizen's Academy

If you are interested in taking part in the next Nature Coast EMS Citizen's Academy which is Free, call 352-249-4700.Nature Coast EMS provides training for the Citizen’s of Citrus County by conducting health care seminars with community events and festivals.  Nature Coast EMS works with the local high schools and college with EMS demonstrations during career days.  The Nature Coast EMS Citizen’s Academy, was the first EMS academy in our area.  Students are adults who want to learn more about EMS and they attend EMS programs to ‘experience’ real medical emergencies and how EMS responds and treats those patients.  Graduates receive education in CPR and first aid as well as injury prevention.  Graduates are invited to do a “Ride a long” on an ambulance and the completion of class.

Nature Coast EMS is contracted by Citrus County and is the sole provider of emergency medical services.

Citrus County is considered rural and recognized as an underserved area of uninsured and underinsured residents. In this economic downturn Nature Coast EMS finds ourselves providing primary health care in non-emergency situations.

Nature Coast EMS believes in giving back to the community by providing medical coverage for nonprofits or at reduced rates as well as volunteering time for community service projects. In 2015 Nature Coast EMS was awarded the "Organization of the Year" by the Key Trainging Center. This year was another successful community Trunk or Treat event. Over 400 kids participated in this years event.

In 2013 Nature Coast EMS developed our very own community needs fundraiser for our seniors in need with the assistance of Pat Cole, Director of Support Services with Citrus County and her team. The community rallied in support by donating needed items as personal hygiene items, toilet paper, paper towels, blankets, socks and more. We were able to deliver over 200 goody bags to seniors in Citrus County thanks to all who supported this wonderful first time endeavor. This will continue with our efforts throughout the year with a big push during the month of October.
