+Paramedic Program

The Paramedic program is designed to prepare students to provide advanced life support measures as a member of an ambulance crew, at the scene of an accident, during transport to a hospital or medical facility, and in the medical facility. This unique program will enhance the quality of student learning and achievement outcomes through the use of human patient simulation training with a SimMan and SimBaby, a tool not available anywhere else for Paramedic students in Citrus County.

+EMT Certification

The EMT program is designed to prepare students to provide basic life support measures as a member of an ambulance crew, at the scene of an accident, during transport to a hospital or medical facility, and in the medical facility. It will prepare students to sit for the Florida Bureau of EMS EMT Certification Exam. This unique program will enhance the quality of student learning and achievement outcomes through the use of human patient simulation training with a SimMan and SimBaby, a tool not available anywhere else for EMT students in Citrus County.

+CCP - Critical Care Paramedic

This course will follow the full scope of critical care paramedic education and is an educational program for paramedics and nurses who perform inter-facility transports, moving very sick patients from one hospital to another for further care and treatment. Students in this education program, if recognized by their EMS employee, can have an expanded scope of practice allowing them to administer more medications than the normal EMT – Paramedic.

This Critical Care Paramedic course is presented for health care providers that routinely participate in inter-facility transports involving complex medical patient, (critical care patients). The program includes instruction in all common aspects of critical care assessment and management including pathophysiology, pharmacology, 12-lead ECG interpretation, interpretation of laboratory values, interpretation of routine diagnostic images, ventilator management, aortic balloon pump management, differential diagnosis and critical thinking skills. The program will incorporate clinical rotations to allow for observation of the skills presented throughout the course.

+PEPP - Pediatric Education for Prehospital Providers

Pediatric Education for Prehosptial Providers (PEPP) represents a comprehensive source of prehospital medical information for the emergent care of infants and children to assist the student in the skills to answer these questions in the first few seconds on-scene:

  • How sick is this child?
  • How quickly do I need to act?
  • What is the child’s physiological problem?

Developed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, PEPP is an exciting curriculum designed specifically to teach pre-hospital professionals how to better assess and manage ill or injured children.

+AMLS - Advanced Medical Life Support

AMLS  is accredited by the Continuing Education Coordinating Board for Emergency Medical Services (CECBEMS) and is recognized by the National Registry of EMTs (NREMT). Students who successfully complete the AMLS course will receive a certificate of completion that is valid for four years.

Advanced Medical Life Support is an education program sponsored of the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT). The program is endorsed by the National Association of EMS Physicians (NAEMSP). This program is for all levels of healthcare practitioners committed to providing quality care for patients in medical crisis. AMLS is the first course that offers a “think-outside-the-box” method of assessing and managing a patient in medical crisis.

It emphasizes using scene size up, interactive group discussion on potential treatment strategies, history, and probabilities in diagnosing a patient’s medical problem. AMLS implements an initial assessment-based approach that progresses to a diagnostic-based approach to develop a treatment plan for a specific medical condition.

AMLS is a sixteen (16) hour, two-day program that consists of interactive lectures, teaching and evaluation stations. The interactive/case based lectures include the following topics: Patient Assessment, Airway Management, , Assessment of the Shock Patient, Dyspnea/Respiratory Failure, Chest Pain, altered Mental Status, and Abdominal Pain.

Teaching stations follow the associated lectures each day.

+ITLS - International Trauma Life Support

ITLS is accepted internationally as the standard training course for prehospital trauma care. It’s used as a state-of-the-art continuing education course — and as an essential curriculum in many paramedic, EMT and first-responder training programs. ITLS courses combine classroom learning and hands-on skill stations. Scenario assessment stations enable you to put your learning to work in simulated trauma situations. ITLS courses are designed, managed and delivered by course directors, coordinators and instructors experienced in EMS, prehospital care and the ITLS approach.

+ASLS - Advanced Stroke Life Support

Stroke is the third leading cause of death and the leading cause of disability in the U.S. Emergency treatments to limit the risk of disability are available but underutilized. The ASLS course teaches you A practical stroke patient assessment tool suitable for routine use by EMS personnel & nurses.

This is a PRACTICAL, HANDS-ON, 8-HOUR course for health professionals developed by experts in stroke, emergency medicine, prehospital care, nursing, education that provides a unique neurologic assessment tool ideal for both prehospital and hospital use, it is approved by the Florida Bureau of EMS and is consistent with JCAHO stroke center criteria.

+Advanced 12 Lead Course

This 12-Lead ECG Interpretation course takes the complex subject of electrocardiography and presents it in a simple, innovative approach that provides basic review for those with a basic understanding of the principles of electrocardiography and provides advanced information in the interpretation of 12 Lead ECG.
